What the agent does, what it will not do without you, and where your files actually live.
- Is 8rney a replacement for a lawyer?
- No. It takes the first pass: the reading, the retrieval, the draft, the review. The judgement that follows belongs to qualified counsel, and the product is built on that assumption rather than disclaiming it afterwards.
- What is an agent run?
- A unit of work with a beginning and an end. It plans before it searches, uses tools against real sources, checks its own support, produces a document, and stops for approval before anything leaves the workspace. It keeps going after you close the tab.
- Which jurisdictions does it cover?
- India, the United States, the United Kingdom, the European Union, Canada, Australia, Singapore, the UAE, and Germany, plus a global default that does not assume any of them. You set the jurisdiction per run.
- Does it invent citations?
- Retrieval and verification are separate steps. A claim is checked against the span of the source that supports it, and support the system cannot confirm is reported as thin rather than written around. If it cannot find an authority it says so.
- Can I use my own documents?
- Yes. Put them in Drive or attach them to a matter. They are extracted, summarised, and indexed, scans included, and every answer that uses one names the file and the page it came from.
- Can it act on its own?
- No. Anything that sends, files, or overwrites queues for approval. You see the exact change before it applies, and rejecting it costs nothing.
- What if the documents cannot be uploaded at all?
- Use 8rney Desk. It points the agent at a folder on your own machine, works on the files in place, and connects to the model you choose. Nothing is uploaded unless you send it.
- Who can see my matters?
- Access follows the matter, ethical walls included. In a firm or institution workspace, new records are private to the people explicitly granted access, and the record of what an agent read stays with the matter.
- Is my work used to train models?
- No. Your matters and documents are not used to train shared models. On Desk, free trial models are the one exception worth knowing about: their usage is logged, so they are for testing rather than client material.
- How long does it take to start?
- Create an account, upload a document, ask a question. There is no onboarding call and no implementation project in front of the first useful answer.
