Why we built it
Half the day goes to shuffling tabs.
Legal teams are sharp. The tools around them are not. The practitioners we know best were spending more time managing context — ten tabs, three apps, one inbox — than doing legal work.
Research lived in one database, files in another, drafts in Word, notes in an inbox. Every new session meant re-briefing whatever tool you opened next. The work was happening — it was just buried under the shuffling.
8rney is one agent that holds the whole matter. It reads the files, remembers the case, cites the sources, and flags the risks. We think that is how it should have worked all along.
Principles
Three rules, no exceptions.
Cite, or say nothing.
Every claim traces back to a real statute, case, or document. If the agent cannot find a source, it says so rather than guessing at one.
Context survives the session.
You should not re-brief an agent at the start of every call. Memory is a feature of the product, not an afterthought bolted onto it.
Judgment stays with the lawyer.
The agent handles the first pass. Final calls belong to qualified counsel — that is the design of the product, not a disclaimer under it.
